New Dog Registration Application

In accordance with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, dogs in the Rockhampton Region must be registered.

Only one dog owner can be nominated who must be over 18 years of age.

Queensland legislation requires dogs to:

• Be registered from 12 weeks of age; and
• Be registered within 14 days of moving into the Rockhampton Regional Council area.

Supporting Documentation
Evidence of desexing:

• Desexing certificate
• Completed statutory declaration

If you are unable to provide evidence of desexing, you will be required to register your dog as entire until such time that you can supply evidence.

Evidence of eligible concession:

• Centrelink or Veteran Affairs pensioner concession card number
• Guide, hearing and assistance handlers identification card

Registration Fees
The dog registration period commences 1 September and ends 31 August of each year. Renewal notices are sent to owners around June/July of each year with payment due 31 August.

Approvals
Approval is required for the keeping of:

• Three or more dogs over the age of 12 weeks (other than a working dog) on any premises or more than one dog on a non-residential premises;
• A guard dog on any premises; or
• A dog kept on residential premises temporarily (only for longer than one month).
